Ceremonial Cushion Based On A 17th-century Court Embroidery, 90 Cm X 45 Cm
A rare ceremonial cushion crafted from a remarkable 17th-century panel of embroidery in silk and metallic threads.
The composition, characterized by its highly elegant architectural design, is organized around a network of delicately embroidered latticework, enlivened by broad foliage motifs, rosettes, and a central floral bouquet. The flowers, executed in polychrome silks, bloom naturally against a dusty pink silk background whose patina, acquired over the centuries, reveals the full nobility of this antique textile.
The foliage, embroidered with metallic threads laid flat using a particularly refined technique, creates a design of remarkable ornamental richness. The interplay of relief, the delicacy of the stitches, and the subtle variations in color attest to the craftsmanship of the embroidery workshops that produced pieces for the most prestigious settings.
The piece evokes the ceremonial textiles produced for the grand aristocratic or ecclesiastical residences of the second half of the 17th century, when metallic embroidery played an essential role in the decorative arts.
Now mounted as an elegant, large-format cushion, this precious fragment continues its story while naturally finding its place in a classic interior, a historic residence, or a contemporary setting, where it stands as a true work of textile art.
The slight wear, small gaps, and signs of age—perfectly consistent with its antiquity—contribute to its authenticity and serve as a reminder of the more than three centuries this exceptional embroidery has endured.

90 × 45 cm.
