This rare set features high-quality binding in fine Cape goatskin with raised bands adorned with gilt metal fittings, an interior roulette pattern with filleted borders, gilt edges, and the famous coat of arms of Marie Joséphine Louise de Savoie embossed on the covers, Countess of Provence (1753–1810). Wife of the Count of Provence, the future Louis XVIII. The set is bound identically for this beautiful series; the Countess of Provence died in exile before her husband ascended the throne.
