This lithograph, titled "Crossing the Rhine, 1918: Return to the Homeland," is characteristic of Hansi's work. The scene is both narrative and symbolic. The work is created in the tradition of early 20th-century Alsatian silhouette cutouts.

This authentic, vintage piece retains its original baguette frame and glass. It bears Hansi’s signature from 1937 and a dedication.

Jean-Jacques Waltz, also known as Hansi or Uncle Hansi (1873–1951), was an Alsatian and French illustrator. Best known for his drawings of idyllic village scenes and his biting anti-German caricatures, he was also a talented watercolorist.

Please note that the work has pitting; there are spots of discoloration in many places, as visible in the photos. However, the artwork remains in presentable condition.
