This bouquet of flowers, painted in watercolor and gouache by the artist Lilian Whittecker—born in 1881 in Wyoming, Ohio—was created in 1910 while she was attending the Boston College of Fine Arts, where she won the bronze medal at the Salon des BeauxIn 1917, she arrived in France; in 1922, she settled at the Montbazon keep, where she mingled with artists in Touraine, including Calder, Davidson, and Max Ernst. In the 1980s and 1990s, the renowned specialist and expert Claude Marumo contacted me to acquire works by the artist with the aim of increasing her market value, but there were none on the market.
