Robert Four Aubusson Tapestry - Montagne Sainte-Victoire, after Paul Cézanne – 133Lx74H - Ref. No. 1665

This magnificent tapestry has undergone a thorough cleaning and meticulous inspection by our experts in our artisanal workshop. It is now ready to adorn your home

This remarkable tapestry from the Robert Four d’Aubusson workshop is based on a work by Paul Cézanne (1839–1906), one of the greatest masters of modern painting and a key figure of the Provençal school.

The design evokes the iconic landscapes of the Aix-en-Provence region, so dear to Cézanne. Dominated by a mountain in delicate hues, reminiscent of the famous Montagne Sainte-Victoire, the composition unfolds into a luminous countryside where majestic pine trees, fields, and an elegant stone viaduct intermingle. The work as a whole reflects the painter’s deep attachment to Provençal nature, which he tirelessly observed “en plein air,” in search of the right sensation and the permanence of forms.

Unlike the Impressionists, who focused on the fleeting variations of light, Paul Cézanne sought to reveal the structure and balance of the landscape. This quest for truth is reflected in this tapestry, where volumes, colors, and lines come together to create a scene that is at once peaceful, powerful, and timeless.

The Robert Four workshop faithfully recreates the nuances and rich color palette of the original work with great finesse. The quality of the weaving highlights every detail, resulting in a decorative piece of great elegance, faithful to the tradition of excellence of the Aubusson workshops.

Measuring 133 cm wide by 74 cm high, this tapestry will naturally find its place in a living room, office, or library, where it will bring warmth, refinement, and character.
