Pair Of Bronze Lions, Grand Tour, Thomas Hope, Luigi Valadier, 19th Century

Artist: Thomas Hope Style
A pair of crouching lions cast in bronze in the first half of the 19th century. They rest on two rectangular marble bases, which have chips on some of the corners, as shown in the photos.

The design can be traced back to the drawings of Thomas Hope, an early 19th-century English architect known for his designs that left a distinctive mark on the Regency period, with his reinterpretation of ancient models—classical rather than Egyptian.

Dimensions including the base: 13 cm (h) x 23.5 cm x 12 cm
