Genoa, first half of the 19th centuryAn important triptych consisting of a central cantagloria and two side cantaglorie, created in Genoa in the first half of the 19th century. The three frames are finely carved from wood and embellished with rich pure-gold gilding, executed in the finest tradition of Ligurian woodcarving.Characterized by an elegant, flowing design featuring volutes, foliage motifs, and refined rocaille elements still fully in the 18th-century style, these cantaglorie attest to the continuity of Genoa’s great artistic tradition even in the first half of the 19th century.Intended for liturgical use, they were placed on the altar to hold the texts of the Mass prayers. In addition to their historical and devotional value, they now serve as a refined decorative piece, particularly appreciated for the quality of the carving, the brilliance of the gilding, and their striking decorative impact. The triptych is in good condition, with a pleasant patina of age that enhances its authenticity.DimensionsCentral cantagloria: 40 × 37 cmTwo side cantaglorie: 27 × 22 cm eachPeriod: First half of the 19th century.Provenance: Genoa.Material: Finely carved wood gilded with pure gold.Condition: Good, with normal signs of aging consistent with the period.
