Large Procession Lantern Made Of Polychrome Sheet Metal, Late 19th Century
A beautiful and rare antique lantern made of painted sheet metal, in the Neo-Gothic style, reminiscent of a chapel or a small religious building. It features highly elaborate architecture with four turrets, a central bell tower topped by a cross, applied rosette decorations, and openwork openings that allow light to shine through. The interior retains its original candle holder. The numerous traces of soot attest to its past use. The door is functional, and the hanging chain is present. The original polychrome paintwork (purple, aqua green, and pink) is still visible and adds to the authentic charm of this piece.
