Walnut Trumeau With Piedmont Maple Inlays, 20th Century

A Piedmont-made walnut trumeau, characterized by an elegant blend of antique and 20th-century elements. The drop-front base is antique and features maple inlays that were added later, further enhancing its charm. The upper section, dating from the 20th century, features a pair of paneled doors inlaid with maple scrollwork, a motif that repeats harmoniously across the entire surface of the piece. A central inlay made of various woods depicts a rural scene featuring a lady and a knight, a theme that is also found on the central drop-down door. When opened, this door reveals an interior compartment with five drawers and an open shelf. The base is completed by a pair of drawers and pull-out compartments that support the drop-down door, while the ornate legs and the carved bronze vents and handles add a touch of refinement.
