Folding Fireplace Toaster Made Of Wrought Iron And Turned Wood, Monogrammed “em” – 18th Century
Folding wrought-iron fireplace toaster with a turned wooden handle. The hinged head consists of four supports designed to hold the slices of bread over the embers, while the built-in legs allow the entire unit to be placed in front of the fireplace. This folding model, more elaborate than fixed toasters, folds completely flat for easy storage. The crossbar is engraved with the monogram “EM”, likely a period owner’s mark. A beautiful handcrafted piece of wrought iron, representative of household utensils from the 18th and early 19th centuries. Antique patina and signs of wear consistent with its age.
