Elsbeth Rudolff is an Estonian artist whose paintings are held in the Museum of Fine Arts in Tallinn, Estonia.
She first studied in Dresden, then in Munich, notably at the Academy of Fine Arts in 1898–1899 under Anton Ażbe (who trained the greats of Slovenian Impressionism, the Russian masters Kandinsky, Grabar, and Lourachko, and Czech painters such as Ludvik Kuba).
She then settled in Tartu, Estonia, and specialized in portraiture. Her art can be compared to that of Walter von Ruckteschell, often in a sober, conventional style, but one that sometimes becomes more Impressionist and expansive, as in this painting, for example.
Elsbeth Rudolff painted prominent figures of her time. For example, the founders of the Pärnu Society for the Study of Antiquity, the German-Baltic historian and archaeologist Richard Gustav Hausmann, the collector Friedrich Eberhard Rambach (in 1904), and the founder of the German Art Museum.
Elsbeth Rudolff died in the camps in Germany in 1945.
