Paul Richer, 1890, Artistic Anatomy: A Description Of The External Forms Of The Human Body

“Grand Richer,” published in 1890, when its author—Paul Richer, a physician and sculptor—was still Jean Martin Charcot’s assistant at the Salpêtrière. The major innovation of this atlas is the insight it provides to practitioners—whether artists or physicians—into the interpretation of the nude.
A copy of this first edition in folio format, divided into two parts: THE WRITTEN PART (nc) and THE PLATES (nc), diagrams and drawings.
The folio is bound in its original hardcover, with red laces for closure. It shows signs of wear and use on the covers and title pages. The cover is worn along the spine and has a few stains, scuffs, marks, and small tears along the edges, but it remains sturdy. The title page is damaged along the edges and has tears. The vast majority of the pages and plates are very clean and in very good condition.
