Art Deco Zouzou Film Bracelet, 1934, Josephine Baker, Maison Flamand, Ref. 1160
Josephine Baker (1906–1975).
The Zouzou bracelet is presented in its original cubic cardboard box lined with black paper marbled with gold; the interior is lined with beige satin. It is titled: “Zouzou Joséphine Baker.”
The bracelet was patented and produced by Maison Flamand. The piece was released in conjunction with the 1934 screening of Marc Allegret’s film *Zouzou*.
The nickel-plated steel cuff bracelet is adorned with three large faceted Bakelite cabochons imitating amber. The central motif serves as a powder compact.
Date: 1934.
Condition: as found and showing signs of use; case in good condition; the bracelet’s silver plating is worn at the edges; the small mirror from the powder compact is missing.
