Venetian school, first half of the 17th century; a slightly convex oval bronze plaque depicting the profile of Emperor Claudius, with a border featuring a band of coats of arms and trophies, lion protomes on the axes, and the inscription “CLAVDIVS CAES” in raised letters.
This plaque is the third in the series known as “The Twelve Caesars,” belonging to a reissue—modified by the addition of the frame—of the original created around the mid-16th century in the Padua area.
