19th-century French School, After François Boucher (1703–1770)
Oil on panel depicting a romantic scene in the Rococo style, inspired by a composition by François Boucher. The young woman is depicted in an elegant Louis XV-style interior, lifting her dress in a libertine pose characteristic of 18th-century boudoir subjects. A small dog livens up the foreground, while in the background a fireplace topped with a cartouche and a candelabra are visible—elements that reinforce the scene’s refined atmosphere.
This work is an early interpretation based on a well-known model by François Boucher, adapted here to a rectangular format. The delicate color palette, dominated by soft pinks and greens, as well as the decorative treatment of the composition, reflect the 19th-century fascination with 18th-century French galant painting.
