THE ARTIST
A student of Français and Corot, he made his debut at the 1864 Salon. Member of the Société des Artistes Français in 1883.
Medal in 1870; second class in 1873; silver medal in 1889 and 1900 (U.S.). Knight of the Legion
of Honor in 1906. He visited Italy early in his career, but he primarily painted French landscapes,
particularly in the Jura and Doubs regions.
