From a very young age, Pierre Bernotte devoted himself to drawing and painting.
In 1947, he sculpted his first "pebble heads" and created puppets. Pierre Bernotte began exhibiting in 1948.
In 1949, he joined the Cohorte group, which brought together young artists from the abstract art movement (Pierre Giraud, Andrée Michaud, Laplagne, Desjarrige, Deglane, Papillaud). In 1950, he met Raoul Hausmann there, who played a key role in the Berlin Dada movement.
With nearly 50 exhibitions, Pierre Bernotte left behind a rich body of work comprising over a thousand paintings, watercolors, drawings, and sculptures.
A retrospective featuring some thirty of his works was held in May 2009 in the winter garden of the Francophone Multimedia Library in Limoges.
