Also featuring small animals and insects such as toads, swallows, magpies, and dragonflies. Signed "J. Guth" within the design. Art Nouveau-era piece. Good condition, with some previous restorations and filled cracks. Highly original marquetry design.
Joseph Guth, a brother but nonetheless distinct from Paul Guth, was a manufacturer of high-quality furniture during the Art Nouveau period. He was based in Nancy and worked in a style similar to that of Gallé during the same era.
