Rare Chamber Pot From Napoleon III’s Service, Made Of 19th-century Sèvres Porcelain
Rare chamber pot from the service of the House of Emperor Napoleon III
Hard porcelain from the Imperial Porcelain Manufactory of Sèvres
Gold decoration featuring the letter N on a double L for Louis-Napoléon beneath a crown, similar to that of the Princes' Service.
This unusual and rather rare object demonstrates that the Sèvres Manufactory served the crown by furnishing not only the sovereign’s tables but also his bedrooms. For example, small toilet candlesticks can be found among the range of everyday objects produced by Sèvres.
Manufacturer’s and gilding marks: 1857 and 1858.
Height: 12 cm, depth: 24 cm.
Very good overall condition, minor wear to the gilding, and a superficial scratch on the porcelain.
