Beautiful carved walnut oval frame, crafted in the Black Forest in the late 19th century. This frame is known as "monoxyl" because it is carved from a single piece of wood. The details are beautifully rendered, with intertwined branches and leaves running around the oval. The top is adorned with a young bird, its beak open and wings spread.
