Hunting in Pictures
by Max Haider, 1860.
Max Haider (born July 21, 1807, in Biederstein, Schwabing, Munich; died June 21, 1873, in Munich) was a German hunter, animal painter, lithographer, and illustrator.
The Munich artist Max Haider drew and painted numerous hunting scenes for the satirical magazines Fliegende Blätter and Münchener Bilderbogen. His subjects fit perfectly into the cultural program of Emperor Maximilian II, who, in contrast to the classical world of his father Ludwig I, favored the revival of regional and national art in order to awaken Bavarian national sentiment.
The frames measure 30 x 37 cm. These paintings are extremely rare!
