19th-century Napoleon Chess Set
Exceptional ivory chess set in its original horsehair case.
The white pieces represent Emperor Napoleon I and his wife, the Empress. The bishops are Imperial grenadiers.
The red pieces are most likely Tsar Alexander I and the Tsarina, with the bishops representing Russian guards.
The hand-carved pieces measure 50 to 60 mm, and the turned pawns are 40 mm.
