Indian ink and wash drawing on paper depicting the profile of the young Jacqueline Barsotti Goddard, muse of the famous painter and photographer Man Ray. The drawing is signed lower right by Foujita, located in Paris and dated 1929. Leonard Foujita 1886-1968 was an artist of Japanese origin, fascinated by Western culture, who moved to Paris, where he met Picasso, discovered Cubism and the work of Douanier Rousseau, and immersed himself in the avant-garde of "modern art". The Roaring Twenties were the peak of his Parisian career, and our drawing dates from this period.
