Trim - Clock
Garniture De Cheminée Napoléon III En Bronze Doré Et onyx - Mouvement Samuel Marti - Signée G. Fabre, Paris
Elegant and rare Napoleon III period mantel set, comprising a portico clock and matching pair of candelabras.
The set is crafted in finely chased gilt bronze and white onyx, in an elegant Louis XVI taste. The clock features a rich decoration of garlands, foliage, pine cones and floral motifs, characteristic of quality Parisian production in the second half of the 19th century.
The white enameled dial, signed "G. Fabre, Paris - Rue des Filles du Calvaire", has its original openwork hands. The case is fully glazed on all sides, revealing the decorative balance wheel.
The mechanical movement is by Samuel Marti, a famous Parisian manufacturer awarded at several World's Fairs. It is a benchmark of quality in 19th-century French watchmaking.
The two five-light candelabras use the same materials and decorative vocabulary, forming a particularly harmonious and decorative ensemble.
