Luca MADRASSI (1848-1919).
Imposing bronze bust with two-tone brown patina representing a young woman.
This bronze is mounted on a red marble base.
Signed on the back MADRASSI PARIS.
Art Nouveau period around 1900.
This sculpture is in good condition, beautiful patina , some wear from use , a small shock on a corner of the base (not very visible).
History : Luca MADRASSI (1848-1919) , studied in Rome then in Paris his teacher was Pierre -Jules Cavelier .
He then joined the workshop of Carrier-Belleuse then that of Gustave Doré .
This collaboration in these two workshops may explain the analogies between the works of Gustave Doré and Carrier-Belleuse .
He exhibited in many of the prestigious salons of the period and won awards on several occasions ,he became a member of the Société des Artistes Français in 1890 .
