Pair Of 19thc French Louis XVI Style Ormolu Mounted Marble Cassolette Lamps
Pair of Louis XVI Style Marble & Ormolu Table Lamps (Former Cassolettes)
A striking pair of table lamps crafted from veined grey and white marble with finely cast gilt bronze (ormolu) mounts, designed in the Louis XVI revival style.
Originally produced as decorative cassolettes, these pieces have been professionally converted for electrical use, retaining their classical architectural form and symmetry.
Each lamp features an ovoid marble body raised on a fluted ormolu pedestal, set upon a square stepped gilt bronze base. The bodies are mounted with ornate scrolling handles, cast as flowing foliage and floral garlands, adding strong neoclassical character.
The upper sections are finished with pierced ormolu galleries and domed fluted covers, now supporting a three-arm brass light fitting, with sockets directed outward and upward for balanced illumination.
The marble is polished to a high finish, displaying natural veining throughout. The ormolu mounts show good casting and chased detail, with a consistent rich gold tone. Both lamps are fitted with gold braided electrical cords.
