Oil on panel 19th century panel depicting a Napoleonic cavalryman beside his prancing horsehis prancing horse, in a dramatic and eventful composition.
This military scene, treated with vigor and a sense of movement,clearly inspired by the great French Romantic compositions, particularlyparticularly the work of Théodore Géricault.

Thefigure, dressed in a cavalry uniform with breastplate, plumed helmetcape, is depicted in a heroic attitude typical of Napoleonictypical of 19th-century Napoleonic iconography.
The vivid brushstrokes and luminous contrasts reinforce the theatrical character of the whole.

Beautifuldecorative painting with a strong presence, presented in an elegant wooden wood and gilded stucco with palmettes in the Empire style.
