Pair of mirrors
Italy, Venice
First half of the 18th century (Louis XV style)
Carved and gilded wood
Antique mercury-silvered glass mirror
Dimensions (maximum): Height 88 cm, Width 55 cm
FULL DETAILS OF THE WORKS (CLICK HERE)
Pair of Louis XV-style Venetian-made mirrors, in carved and gilded wood, adorned with carved ornamental motifs typical of 18th-century Rococo style, though still strongly influenced by Baroque elements, featuring plant tendrils and flowers that create a sinuous profile.
The upper section is crowned by a large openwork floral motif, typical of 18th-century decorative repertoire, and the internal frame in which the mirror is set—with its contoured sides—along with the complexity of the details, highlight the grace and elegance characteristic of Venetian craftsmanship of this period, demonstrating the master carver’s exceptional technical skill.
CONDITION:
Considering the fragility and age of the two pieces, the condition is good. Restored. Antique mirrors, mercury-silvered, with flaws typical of the period.
We handle and arrange the shipping of purchased items, both within Italy and internationally, using professional and insured carriers.
You can also view the mirrors at our gallery in Riva del Garda; we would be delighted to welcome you and show you our collection of works.
