French Writing Desk, Second Half Of The 18th Century

Neoclassical open-fronted writing desk in violetwood and rosewood, with maple inlays. Stamped beneath the top. Top with green leather insert and brass moldings. Front with five drawers—one central and two stacked on each side—with hidden compartments inside; a pull-out shelf under the top on the right side. Truncated conical legs with small brass cup-shaped feet, handles in gilded wrought bronze, interior in oak. Minor imperfections. France, second half of the 18th century.
