Framed Circular Miniature Depicting A Romantic Scene. France, Napoleon III Period
The scene depicts a couple dressed in noble attire from the Louis XV or Louis XVI era. The man, wearing a decorated blue jacket, is leaning on a canapé-style sofa, conversing with a seated lady wearing a loose-fitting pink ruffled dress.
Setting: The interior is sumptuous, featuring ornate wood paneling on the walls and a heavy red curtain on the right.
A partial signature is visible at the bottom right, appearing to read "Aguy" or something similar.
The mount is particularly fine and suggests European (probably French) manufacture from the late 19th or early 20th century, in a Neoclassical or Louis XVI style.
Enamel Border: The miniature is enclosed in a cobalt blue enamel ring (Bleu de Roi type), decorated with small gold-plated flowers and diamonds.
The upper part features an elaborate gilded bronze frieze in the shape of a bow with garlands of roses descending from the sides.
The object appears to be in good overall condition. A light patina is visible on the metal of the frame, consistent with its age. The painting appears well preserved under the protective glass, with no obvious signs of humidity or significant fading.
The miniature measures 11 cm in diameter. Maximum height 19 cm.
