Stoneware Westerwald Brewery Advertising Barrel.
Rare : Brewery advertising barrel for genever liqueur (a specialty of northern Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands and northern France). Stoneware barrel resting on a pedestal, decorated on both sides with a "Baas Jan houde genever" advertisement, and on these sides with a gallant scene of estaminet life. Made in Germany in the first half of the 20th century. Height with lid 44 cm, width 25 cm, profile length 30 cm, base diameter 20 cm, weight 7 kg. Good overall condition. Note a chip, see photo 7, on the top at the base of the lid.
