Set against a deep black background, this top displays rich Chinoiserie scenes (animated landscapes, pavilions, and floral motifs) executed in golden and coppery tones.

The combination of architectural brass and lacquer panels (often salvaged from antique Coromandel lacquer folding screens or custom-commissioned) is one of the unmistakable signatures of Maison Jansen in the mid-20th century.
