Large Natural Biscuit 19th Century , La Baigneuse Aux Roseaux Falconet , Femme Nue XVIIIe
Large white porcelain cookie depicting La Baigneuse aux roseaux, a famous model created by sculptor Étienne-Maurice Falconet around 1762 for the Manufacture royale de Sèvres.
The figure represents a young nymph descending to the bath, draped in antique style, in an attitude full of grace and modesty. This composition forms the counterpart to La Baigneuse created in 1758, one of the most emblematic models of Sèvres cookie in the 18th century.
Our example, dating from the early 19th century, faithfully reproduces Falconet's model in a beautiful sculptural quality: delicacy of the face, elegance of the wiggle, finesse of the folds of the drapery and beautiful matte rendering characteristic of porcelain cookie.
