Wall Lamp By F Vanczak
Hungarian sculptor and painter who spent most of his career in France, notably in the Pyrénées-Orientales region. Born in Budapest, he studied sculpture in his homeland before moving to Paris in 1937, then to Cabestany after the Second World War.
A fan of direct wood carving, he sought to create accessible, modern sculpture
He completed several public commissions, including the Théza war memorial (1961), the monument des rapatriés in Perpignan (1971), the statue of Jean Jaurès in Millas (1980) and La Fille du soleil et de la mer in Canet-en-Roussillon (1973)
His works include Création d'Eve at the Cabestany cultural center, Adam et Eve, and La Prêtresse.
Note that the electrical system needs overhauling and that the paper walls of his lantern need redoing
