Engraved Glass Ewer With Silver-plated Metal Frame - 19th Century
Elegant ewer composed of a blown glass body, delicately engraved with plant motifs and scrolls, resting on a slightly gadrooned base. The glass features beautiful fluid-cut work, creating a subtle play of light.
The richly chased silver-plated metal mount adopts a Rocaille-style decoration with scrolls, shells and foliage. It features an ornate spout, a hinged lid topped by a finely worked grip, and a sinuous scrolled handle typical of 19th-century taste.
The ensemble offers a harmonious contrast between the transparency of the glass and the decorative density of the metal, testifying to meticulous workmanship and a fine balance of form.
