Olinto Modular Bookshelf Designed By Kazuhide Takahama For B&b.
Artist: Kazuhide Takahama
Olinto modular bookcase designed by Kazuhide Takahama for B&B.
A stunning bookcase that blends Eastern design with Italian quality.
Refined and elegant, this modular bookcase can single-handedly transform a room with its sparkling personality.
Created in the 1960s from solid wood lacquered in a café au lait color.
Kazuhide Takahama was a great Japanese designer and a genius of Italian design thanks to a chance encounter, during the setup of the Japanese pavilion at the Milan Triennale, with Dino Gravina, with whom he collaborated throughout his life.
B&B was founded in 1966 in Novedrate under the name C&B by Cesare Cassina and Piero Ambrogio Busnelli; in 1973, Busnelli acquired Cassina’s shares and transformed the company into B&B.
The bookcase was first produced by the Gavina company; after Gavina closed, B&B acquired the production patents.
This piece of furniture was designed to be adaptable to the user’s needs; in fact, at the time of purchase, one could choose different quantities and types of modules. This specific unit consists of:
two modules with shelves only;
two modules with lacquered doors at the bottom and full-height shelves.
The bookcase is in excellent condition, showing some slight and obvious signs of age as shown in the photos.
Slight color variations due to sun exposure.
The bookcase is named in honor of Father Olinto Marella, a charitable soul beatified in 2020, as a tribute from Takahama.
