Spectacular table in the Empire style ; after the famous model by Jacob Desmalter.
It is all sides in mahogany veneer and richly decorated with gilded bronzes.
The uprights are with 4 gilded bronze caryatids, its crosspieces adorned with laurel leaves; rosettes and palmettes.
The base has a brace surmounted by an antique-style vase framed by 2 winged sphynxes.
A simular model decorated Caroline Murat's bedroom at the Palais de l'Elysée in 1803.
Now preserved inVersailles ( at the Grand Trianon ).
Throated sea-green marble ( restored ).
Beautiful quality , needs cleaning.
