Jean-Marie Zazzi was born in Marseille in 1936[1].
From 1957 to 1960, he attended evening classes at the Marseille School of Fine Arts[2], notably with François Diana. In 1959, he was nominated for the Prix de la Ville de Marseille. In 1964, he was nominated for the Prix de la Ville de Cassis. In 1966, he was selected for the Prix de la jeune peinture méditerranéenne in Nice.
In the 1960s and 1970s, he often exhibited in Marseille, Ventabren, Aix-en-Provence, Toulon, Montpellier, Saint-Maximin and Nîmes, but also in Autun, Le Creusot and Paris, at the Galerie des Saints-Pères, and in Spain, in Oviedo, Gijón and Avilés.
In 1978, he took part in the Bari International Fair in Italy. The Galerie Nègre in Marseille and the Galerie des Saints-Pères in Paris remained faithful to his work in the 1980s. He also exhibited regularly in Anduze, Sausset-les-Pins, Le Cannet and Cadenet, and in recent years at Galerie 22 in Coustellet.
In 1990, 1991 and 1998, he took part in the Stockholm International Art Fair in Sweden. The BNP and the École des Beaux-Arts de Paris bought paintings from him for their collections[3]. In 1993, his works were part of the "Découvertes de Charles Juliet" selection at the Centre d'art contemporain de Lacoux[4].
In 2003, a retrospective exhibition was held at the Château de La Tour-d'Aigues[5]. In September and October 2024, a major exhibition of his most recent works will be held at the Abbay de Sylvacane deJean-Marie Zazzi was born in Marseille in 1936[1].
