Beech Duchesse, Louis XVI Period
Duchesse in beech, Louis XVI period, presented in carcass to be restored. The structure rests on six tapered and fluted legs, characteristic of the Neoclassical repertoire. The belt is adorned with a continuous beaded molding. The two backrests, of unequal height, feature medallion-shaped cheeks with curved contours, enhanced by small carved rosettes. The original upholstery, partially preserved, reveals the animal hair and burlap of the strapping.
The case bears traces of polychromy attesting to several successive painting campaigns.
Restorations to be planned.
