Pair Of Fine Earthenware Vases From Rörstrand Sweden 19th Century
A pair of vases with a baluster silhouette resting on a flared pedestal, with a wide-open corolla-shaped neck. They are fitted with two rococo-inspired scrolled side handles, bringing a refined decorative movement.
The decoration is particularly remarkable: garland of foliage, bunches of grapes, intertwined snakes , polychrome flowers applied in light relief evoking a neo-baroque or naturalistic style.
This type of lavish ornamentation is in keeping with the 19th century taste for exuberant, naturalistic decor, halfway between Romanticism and Historicism.
The Rörstrand factory is one of Europe's oldest and most prestigious ceramics factories, founded in 1726 in Stockholm.
