The cartel motifs evoke the mores of the "incredible" and "marvelous" eccentric youth of Limoges. and "marvelous" eccentric youth of Paris under the Directoireinspired by an engraving by Louis Carrogis dit Carmontelle (1795-1799). All the figures and foliage are enhanced by hand before beingpainted with colored enamels and powdered with pure gold.
