Black Glazed Faience Tripod Pitcher, Signed Studio Piece, 1950s-1960s.
This pitcher is representative of modernist studio ceramic production from the mid-20th century. Crafted from earthenware, it features a globular body topped with a slightly flared neck and a pinched pouring spout. A solid, curved lateral handle is applied to the upper section. The entire structure rests on a tripod base formed by three short conical feet.
Technically, the piece is completely covered in a monochrome black glaze featuring a satin finish with subtle metallic ("gunmetal") reflections, characteristic of the metal oxide (often manganese) glazes favored during this period. The surface shows slight irregularities and minor firing pinholes, which are inherent and standard for handcrafted, high-fired production.
The piece bears a signature on the underside. Good structural condition, with no apparent cracks or restorations.
