Belle Époque articulated knot necklace - 18k gold and seed pearls
18k yellow gold necklace featuring a knot-shaped articulated décolleté motif, held in place by a forçat link chain. The gold ribbons, finely turned in on themselves to form the knots, are embellished with baroque seed pearls and terminate in small tassels. The whole motif is slightly domed, designed to adapt to the curve of the décolleté. On the reverse, the hinge system is apparent - visible and legible, direct testimony to the care taken in the construction of the piece.

Condition
Overall good condition for a piece of this age and delicacy of construction. The knots are intact, the gold ribbon turnings clean and well-formed - a sign of careful goldsmithing, which has stood the test of time without distortion. The joints function freely.
Some traces of soldering are visible in places, presumably of the period; the tight nooks and crannies of the knots have not allowed complete polishing, which is inherent to this type of construction and in no way detracts from the overall effect.
The seed pearls are baroque - their slight irregularities in shape are characteristic of natural pearls from this period - and very pure white, with no yellowing.
Worn, the necklace sits naturally on the décolleté, hugging the curve of the bust as it was designed to do. The effect is both structured and supple.
