Born in Bar-sur-Aube, pupil of J. Lefèvre and T. Robert-Fleury.
Exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français from 1897 to 1922, at the Indépendants and at the Salon d'Automne.
He traveled extensively and worked with Venezuelan painter Emilio BOGGIO (1857-1920), a painter friend to whom he was very close and whose technique clearly influenced him for a certain period, his friend's death affecting him greatly in 1920.
The two painters each owned a house in Vaux sur Seine since the 1900s.
