Bronze Dolphin Fountain Spout
This zoomorphic fountain mouth features a morphology close to that of the dolphin as depicted in the XVIIᵉ century. However, the torsion of the body leaves some doubt as to the precise identification of the creature. It could also be a water monster, an apotropaic figure then intended to ward off evil spirits. The piece is dated 1646 and was found in a Brussels house.
