Jean Lefeuvre, born August 6, 1882 in Saint-Germain-le-Guillaume[1] and died December 31, 1974 in Ernée[2], was a French landscape painter.
CourseJean Lefeuvre, after being taught by Tony Robert-Fleury and Jules Lefebvre at the Académie Julian, entered the Beaux-Arts de Paris in 1901, where several of his works are preserved[3]. He studied with Joseph Blanc, among others. He won the Prix de Rome in 1908 and began a stay at the Villa Medici[4]. He subsequently taught at this school until 1947.
He specialized in landscapes, favored watercolors and exhibited at the Salon des indépendants.
In 1914, he won the gold medal at the Salon des artistes français; later, he received the silver medal at the 1937 Universal Exhibition. In the 1950s and 1960s, Jean Lefeuvre was commissioned by the Institut Monétaire to design several banknote projects. His designs include the 5,000 francs Henri IV, 10 francs Voltaire, 100 francs Corneille and 500 francs Molière
