This authentic antique Ericsson AB220 wall telephone was manufactured by AB L.M. Ericsson & Co. in Stockholm. The AB220 model was produced from the late 19th through the early 20th century and exemplified the high engineering and design standards of early telephony. The most interesting detail of this telephone is its powerful 4-magnet generator (likely type RH 4160), as standard models were equipped with 2- or 3-magnet generators. This means that the telephone was made by special order to operate on very remote or heavily loaded lines, where increased ringing current power was required.
