Claire Bianchi was born in Cherbourg in 1963. Trained as a graphic designer and illustrator at the Ecole Estienne in Paris, she settled in 1993 in Saint-Mammès, on the banks of the Seine and Loing rivers, where she works today, devoting herself entirely to oil painting. Her expressionist, gestural style of painting is inspired by her surroundings and her many travels, and is based on incessant observation of nature, a process of memory and retranscription imbued with the experienced feelings of color and light. Depth, surface and verticality gradually led her to expand her formats and question the creation of a pictorial surface that is both frontal and transparent. Since 2000, she has regularly exhibited her work in solo and group shows in France and abroad.
