Gino Romiti (Livorno, 1881–1967). He trained in the studio of the master Guglielmo Micheli, received guidance from Giovanni Fattori and became friends with Modigliani. The artist’s favourite subjects were the pine forests of Ardenza, near Livorno, gardens, flowers, country roads and the seabed. In 1903, 1913, 1924 and 1952, he took part in the Venice Biennale, and in 1914 in the Rome International Exhibition. In 1920, together with other artists from Livorno, he founded the ‘Gruppo Labronico’, of which he was president from 1943 to 1962. In 1926 and 1927, he exhibited at the 80th National Exhibition at Palazzo Pitti in Florence.
