Louis XV Marquetry Chest Of Drawers 2 Drawers
Beautiful Louis XV-style curved commode tombeau, French work from the late 19th century or very early 20th century, circa 1900, opening to two drawers on the front. The piece features an elegantly curved silhouette, with curved front and sides, cambered legs, rich ornamentation of rocaille bronzes and a beautiful red veined marble top with curved beaks. Dimensions: 140 x 95 x 57 cm.
The ensemble captivates with the quality of its design, highly representative of the Louis XV taste revisited in the Belle Époque period. The front is enlivened by a large central reserve, underlined by a fan-shaped radiating marquetry, which lends relief and refinement to the composition. Ornamental bronzes, falls, pull handles, lock escutcheons and sabots elegantly accompany the furniture's supple lines. Red veined marble, overhanging and generously molded, perfectly completes this handsome presentation.
The carcass is in oak, clad in a finely arranged veneer in warm, nuanced tones, with a butterfly-wing frieze decoration and a highly decorative inlaid composition. This type of workmanship evokes the fine French Louis XV-style productions destined for bourgeois interiors and houses of character around 1900.
Condition :. Normal traces of use, light surface wear, a few minor veneer repairs or accidents, bronzes with a former patina, as well as marks of use on the marble with minor rubbing and minor edge alterations visible on the photographs.
